Introduction to technological progress in the dust collector industry

The application and development of dust removal technology are closely related to China's industrialization process. In the early stage, China had a relatively low level of industrialization. The flue gas emissions from major polluting industries were comparatively small, the state paid insufficient attention to environmental pollution, and the requirements for dust removal technology were low. Cyclone dust collectors and wet dust removal equipment, which feature simple structures and low investment costs, dominated the market, while electrostatic precipitation technology and baghouse dust removal technology developed at a slower pace.
Since 1980, China's industrialization and urbanization have accelerated gradually. Industries such as power, cement and steel have expanded on a large scale, resulting in a sharp rise in flue gas emissions and increasingly severe environmental pollution. Environmental protection has attracted growing attention. Electrostatic precipitators are characterized by simple structures, low resistance, and the capability to handle working conditions with high temperatures and large flue gas volumes. They could also meet the relatively loose emission standards of that period, so they were widely adopted in the power industry. As a result, electrostatic precipitation technology gradually replaced earlier dust removal technologies and achieved rapid development. Meanwhile, although baghouse dust removal technology offered high dust collection efficiency, it was not widely applied in the power and metallurgical industries at that time. This was due to the inadequate domestic manufacturing capacity for baghouse designs, ash cleaning devices, filter bags and other components, as well as the shortage of high-temperature filter materials.
Entering the 1990s, China's power, steel, non-ferrous metal smelting, chemical and other industries entered a phase of rapid development. Air pollution became increasingly prominent. The state began to focus on pollution control at the source and continuously revised air pollutant emission standards for various industries, making them increasingly stringent. Baghouse dust collectors gradually gained recognition for their high-efficiency dust removal performance and were widely deployed in steel, non-ferrous metal smelting, chemical and other industries. The successful application of baghouse dust collectors in demonstration projects such as Baosteel also accelerated their popularization. At present, baghouse dust collectors have replaced electrostatic precipitators and become the primary dust removal method in steel, non-ferrous metal smelting, cement, chemical and other sectors. In the power industry, which previously relied heavily on electrostatic precipitators, high-efficiency baghouse technologies such as the conversion from electrostatic precipitation to baghouse dust removal have been gradually adopted to comply with increasingly strict environmental emission standards.
